In this "small" World of just over 6,000,000,000 people, there are occasional coincidences that amaze me. Like what happened today. There's a long old friend of mine from Bangsar has a husband that for whatever reason has parents who are from my small hometown and for whatever "wind" ended up in a shop that I grew up in selling shoes ;) (Chan Wei Chee... I am talking about you!!! :) Then I started flashing back some memories I had back then selling shoes. Since young. It was really long time ago. But feels like not many "days" ago... In a small town, gossips are imminent. "... these fellar son or daughter or wife or mistress have this or that and that happen because of this and that..." Then we gossips diminished and slowly transformed into a more serious conversation, I vividly remember some words that keeps on flashing in my head... Loh ket... Kat Cheong... Yuet Kong... Ching Tau... Kapar sing... Obviously I have no idea what are

The One With the Word ALLAH in Malaysia...

Let me be naive and ask some childish questions. Are Muslims in Malaysia really threading in such a fine thread that a single word can change and alter one’s beliefs? 2) And if Catholics can proof that single word has been used 100s years ago in Malaysia and Muslims are claiming it now (note 1), how different are they compare to their claims that Israelis occupy “their” lands in Palestine? Hmmm.... 3) I think the way this can be solved in Malaysia (fairly) is to either allow every religion and human beings to use that word. I am sure one's beliefs are not on a single word but on the teachings and inspiration one gets from that religion. Or to ban it all together for everyone all of us call our Almighty, Tuhan/God or whatever it is except that word. 4) Politics aside, I hope both sides of the Political party should make a bi-partisan decision for the sake of future generation in Malaysia. We do not want our children to use my favourite word when I was growing up, "...yah

The One With #Bersih 3.0 In London

The M'sian govt has a choice to make #Bersih a "family" event and promote the country. But they chose to defy democracy, freedom of speech and call for unwarranted aggression and brutality. If "YOU" still sit back in your comfortable couch at home, or think those who walked miles and miles to Dataran Merdeka were idiots, braved themselves with almost a certain fact that they would be sprayed by laced water canons or tear gas, YOU are not wrong not to join us today. But I am almost certain your kids or your next generation will think otherwise, apart from the 1% of the elite UMNO putras. Today we didn't want to show that we dislike the current government. All we want is to be assured that we being M'sian are able to choose our own government! I am sorry that I can't be in Malaysia to walk with you. But I am certain that when I walked and chanted quietly in London for the same thing you have done in Dataran Merdeka, I am not alone. We are not alon

Today, I am not one of them but I AM ONE OF US! Some might called us Monkeys, but if we have to be one to demand for a FAIR & CLEAN election, let's turn Malaysia into a Planet of the Ape. It's suppose to be like in London where it started peacefully and ended in a peaceful harmony way, the Malaysian Police choose the ending where we will hate them more! Good luck Malaysian. It has just all began... Harimau Malaya

The Malaysian Dilemma III

Image
In case you are wondering, why part 3? These are the links to my previous "Dilemmas" :) Malaysian Dilemma I ( link ) Malaysia Dilemma II ( link ) I think when we say Bersih in malay now, one will automatically think of the colour of my name :) Yellow or 黃. The recent Bersih "planned" event might not have ended in a way they thought it would be but all will agree that it has succeeded in delivering it's message. The current government has to go. I was struck by a comment left by a "Malaysian" when I left a small message in the Bersih's Facebook page. He said "... You sial cina...." Instead of getting angry of that "Malaysian", I actually felt really sad. And within moments it has turned into disappointment, not at that "Malaysian" but at our current government. 1) After more than 30 yrs implementing the so called NEP that was suppose to eradicate poverty among the Malays, they FAILED and created more imp
